Ricky was one of my big brothers. When I was in fourth grade, our mom spent about four months in a Galveston hospital. She was diagnosed with Lupus. After she got home, I remember Ricky driving her many times back to Galveston for her check ups. I went with them a few times. Ricky had a 1966 Chevy Chevelle. I can still hear my mom saying, “Ricky, slow down!”
Even though there was a nine year difference between us, I agree that he was a hard worker. It was something that you could see in everything that he did. At one point, he worked for Oak Farms milk company in Beaumont. Ricky would bring home chocolate milk that was about to expire. Boy, that was a treat! I was always happy when he did that.
He will be missed by so many of us.
