Cheri, Brian & Keith, Please allow me to share this poem with you. It would surprise Ed that a poem would be my response, but it's so appropriate. It's by Edgar Guest and is titled "Miss Me A Little". "When I come to the end of my road, and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, why cry for a soul set free? Miss be a little but not too much, and not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared, miss me but let me go. For this is a journey we all must make, and each must go alone, It's all a part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to home. So when you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds, miss me but let me go." "Bury your sorrow in doing goods deeds" would be Ed's anthem. What a good man he was! Always helping. Sue and I got to the visitation at 7:00 and there must have been 150 people in line. We are both recovering from recent surgery and couldn't stand long enough to greet you. As a heart transplant recipient I salute Ed for his coragious decisions, particularly to be a donor. Organ donation is the single most magnanimous random act of kindness that one person can do for another. I stand in awe of organ donors and in awe of Ed Toogood! Warren & Sue Cornil

Cheri, I know the deep loss you are feeling, and I pray that God will give you and your family extra grace to work through this pain. If God prepares a place for us in Heaven, and the size of it is according to our good works and our kindness to others, then Ed is living in a palace! I was not fortunate enough to stay close to you and Ed over the years, but I had the pleasure of running into him, every 7 years or so, at one of Roy?s football games at Reicher Catholic High School, or at Bill?s socials at the rock pit. I always felt like an outsider. Every time I had the pleasure of Ed Toogood?s company, and while I don?t remember our brief conversations, I do remember leaving the encounter feeling like I was the most important person there. What a gift he had. What a gift he was. He will always hold a special place in my heart, and one of the top 5 people I will visit in Heaven. God bless you with extra strength. Sincerely, Cindy Urrutia (Roy?s Mom) P.S. I am so sad I could not arrange travel to come and support you and celebrate Ed?s life.
Coach Toogood's was an outstanding Teacher. He inspired so many students and made learning Science Fun. I was very lucky to have him in 7th grade Science at McDonald Middle School and Biology my sophomore year at North Mesquite. Heaven received another angel. Prayers, deepest sympathy to his family.
