Chere St. Clair
I have so many fond memories of Uncle Dickey. Those I share today readily come to mind and will remain in my thoughts of him forever. It was clear from my earliest memories that Uncle Dickey dearly loved and was devoted to my Aunt Laura Bell. When I was little, I used to think that my aunt surely had found her Prince Charming. He was handsome, but not conceited in spite of his youthful good looks, quick to laugh, and always fun to be with. My uncle had a kind and giving heart and a gentle spirit. Uncle Dickey was so gracious to everyone in our large family. Whenever family gathered (the times were plenty), whether the event be at his and Aunt Bell?s home or another family member?s, he was there always making sure that everyone was comfortable, fed, and happy. He was genuinely interested in each of us and had a way of making you feel special. I will always remember how kind he was to my parents, my brother, and me. I believe he delighted in children and I know he cherished his own. When the family was together and the kids were all playing, I remember Dickey watching us as if to being guarding to be sure we weren?t hurt while also taking joy in our fun. Many years later, after Mother and Daddy moved to Cedar Creek Lake, Aunt Laura Bell and Uncle Dickey would come to visit occasionally, and he and my dad would go fishing. My parents really enjoyed those visits, and I am so grateful for those times that they shared. Our family has lost a wonderful man in Richard Zercher. We have been so blessed to have him share our life story. Rest in eternal peace, Uncle Dickey. With love and memories of happy times, Chere Houck St. Clair, Neice
