Early Life and Education
Born on August 11, 1942, in New York, New York (Flushing/Long Island), to John Richard Monaghan and Mary Evelyn Lauer, Bob’s journey took him from the coast of Long Island to the heart of the Midwest and eventually to the Great State of Texas. He graduated from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1960 before making his way to San Antonio.
A lifelong learner and proud Texan by choice, Bob attended San Antonio College and Texas Tech before ultimately earning his Business Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1967. Bob later earned is Master’s of Education from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State), in the Early 90’s, shifting his career to teaching from Insurance.

Family and Legacy
Bob married Louise Prather in 1967, and together they navigated the joys and heartbreaks of life for thirty years. Bob faced the profound loss of his first son, John Richard, in 1975, a grief he carried with quiet strength.
He is preceded in death by his father, John; his mother, Mary; his stepmother, Lahoma "Sunny" Monaghan, with whom he shared a cherished relationship; and his infant son, John Richard Monaghan.
He is survived by:
