Isiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
For My Daddy: After a restless night of mind-numbing grief, my sister Carol woke up singing these words: "Heaven…I'm in heaven…and my heart beats so that I can hardly speak…" There, from Daddy came words of comfort to ease our pain. That was so like him. Daddy was a gentle soul but with the strength of a mighty man. He was a poet, a singer of songs…always singing; a romantic, a devout Christian who often quoted chapter and verse; a friend to many and loved by all whom he touched. He loved little children. The kids on the block at Livenshire flocked to "Mr. Jack" every time they saw him. The birds and squirrels greeted him at dawn every morning when he came out to feed them. He was a joyous soul who greeted each day with a song. He was married 71 years to the love of his life, Dorothy Christene Tippit. He often said how blessed he was, just an ordinary man, to have been given the gift of her love and devotion. What a pair they were! Working together, hand in hand to give us five kids, grandkids, great grandkids, nieces and nephews a wonderful life with a home filled with comfort, joy and stability. Daddy loved his brothers and sisters: Bud, Carl Wright, Gussie, Ida Mae, Edith, Mary Ethel, Sarah Nell, Zella Faye, Bonnie, Joe and Donald. And, he loved his Tippit brothers and sisters-in-law: J.D. (his best friend), Donnie, Joyce, Wayne, Edward and Ronnie. And he loved the countless nieces, nephews and cousins from the issue of these fine folks. How can I begin to tell Daddy's story? How can I describe the incredible story of the lives he touched and the love he evoked in so many throughout his 88 years on this earth? He made the hard road of life into a sweet primrose lane. He blazed a trail for us that made our path an easy one until the Angels carried him to Jesus. Because of Daddy (and Mom), Christianity came to us as natural as breathing and as sweet as honey to us kids, me, Carol, Robert, Bruce and Jan. What a gift! Singing…always singing. He had a special song for every holiday that we woke up to while he was shaving: "Thanksgiving Day", "Easter Parade", "White Christmas" to name a few. Even, "When the Lights Come on Again" on D-Day. He was a notorious nickname giver. Every one of us kids had our special nickname. I can imagine Daddy in heaven now nicknaming all the Apostles. I can't wait to see that! In going through some of Daddy's notes, I found this undated poem: MY PRAYER TO GOD Speak, then, to your servant Gabriel. He will listen and abide by your decree. When standing on the Earth's four corners, Sound the horn softly for me. I love you, Daddy. I am comforted to know that you will be the one to come and get me when my time comes. Our heartfelt condolences to all the Christophers and their extended family. Jack was quite a guy – thoughtful, humorous, mischievous, and a great storyteller. Sometimes you meet people who will touch your life in unexpected ways. Jack was one of them. I have no doubt that he and pal JD are coaxing Bob Wills to play one more chorus of "Dusty Skies," although we surely would have loved for him to "Stay a Little Longer."
A kind and loving man that loved his lord and savior Jesus. Also loved Aunt Chris as the scripture teaches, 1:Corinthiun 13 verse 8 A love that never fails. He also loved his children, Linda, Carol, and Robert, Bruce and Jan. You will be dearly missed. I will see you again and I will always remember that you called me, "Little Phy-dus" Phyllis Davidson Kreymer
