Robert Lawrence Cotie's Obituary
Robert (Bob/Butch) Lawrence Cotie, aged 84, passed away peacefully on December 9th, 2024, in Plano, Texas. He was born on July 6th, 1940, to Willie and Augusta Cotie in Houston, Texas as one of five siblings including Tom, Theresa, Sharon, and Kathy.
Bob looked forward to seeing his Lord and Savior Jesus having long ago trusted Him by faith in the working out of life and eternity. Bob tried to impart the guidance he received in Jesus to all those in his life be they his children, friends, or even those he encountered day to day.
Bob was a leader in his industry of contact lens manufacturing. He was a creative imaginer of design for processes, tools and lenses that affected the lives of people from around the world that suffered issues that could not be solved by the usual tools and processes. He was at one time president of the Contact Lens Manufacturers Association.
He invented and patented several designs including the MacroLens; a paradigm shift in contact lens fitting, while never quite realizing the full extent of the lives it affected. His work and ingenuity are still spoken of and discussed nationally and internationally. Though many who met him after he retired never knew of the talent and life changing tools, lenses and processes he created.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and wife Anita Ann Cotie (Canipe) and grandson BJ McMahon.
He was loved by and is survived by cherished children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; Tina Rivera (Larry Rivera, Cody and Ash Rivera), Rita Jordan (Michael McMahon and John McMahon (Jessica), Robert A. Cotie (Kathleen Cotie, Jimmy (Amelia)), Lisa Cotie (Samantha and Drake Caprio), Moni Harwell (Gary Harwell, James, Joshua, and Jonathan Lee.) and his sister Theresa along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on March 29th, 2025, at 1:30pm at Cornerstone Bible Church.
2297 Litsey Road Roanoke, TX 76262.
