Robert Lakes Jr.'s Obituary
Robert Lakes, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep December 7, 2016 following a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Robert was born in Navasota, Texas on February 27, 1935. He grew up in the Grimes County area until the year of his enlistment in the US Army in 1952. He served honorably in the service until he retired and settled with his family in Plano, Texas in 1974. There, he raised three children with his late wife Gloria B. Lakes (Crawford), to whom he was married for 52 years. Robert is survived by his second wife of ten years, Azasmore, a son, Bobby; and two daughters; Sharon Lakes and Tanya Lakes. He is also survived by his brother Eddie Lakes of Omaha, NE, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and step-children. A reception in his honor will be held December 17 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, 9220 Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. During the reception, full military honors will be conferred at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Charitable Service Trust or an organization of your choice.
