Robin Mitchell Stricklin's Obituary
Robin Mitchell Stricklin went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 4, 2023, surrounded by her family and close friends. Her creativity, quick wit, fun loving personality and devotion to her family and friends will always be remembered. Robin was deeply committed to her faith and showed she was a true child of God in heart, spirit and life’s work.
She was born in Houston, TX to Virginia and Thomas Mitchell on September 30, 1963. She had fond memories of growing up in Pasadena, TX, graduating from Pasadena High School in 1982. She attended Baylor University and was a Baylor Yell-leader , member of Tri Delta sorority and a Sigma Chi Little Sister, developing lifelong friends, especially her roommates, during her time at Baylor. After graduating Baylor with a Bachelor in Business Administration in 1986, Robin went to work for advertising firm and then EDS which took her to Dallas. She was a gifted writer and communicator, responsible for internal communications for Baylor Scott & White.
She lived in Dallas and was a member of Scofield Memorial Church. She and her family moved to Littleton, CO where she continued to invest her time in helping her boys be successful in school and their pursuits. She developed a passion for tennis and continued her love for art and painting and took courses in set design, and continued to create sets for many theater productions in Colorado and then in Dallas, as she moved back to Dallas in 2015. She loved being a part of Bible studies and women’s ministries in each of the churches of which she was a part. Robin enjoyed entertaining, adventure and traveling whenever possible. Notable family trips to Alaska, Bhutan and Bangladesh were recorded in photo albums which she enjoyed creating to cherish the memories. Robin was a devoted mother, daughter, sister and friend to many. Her compassion and kindness was overwhelming, and she was always ready to volunteer her time and devote her heart to her many pursuits, loving family and friends.
Through her relatively short illness of Frontal Temporal Dementia, her faith was a source of comfort. Her family would like to thank the many health care providers who tended to her, with thanks for their amazing care and support.
Robin was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Parrott Mitchell and her father, Thomas Lawley Mitchell.
She is survived by her sons, Cal Stricklin and Colton Thomas Drake; sister and brother-in-law, D’Nita and Steve Cruse; cousins; nieces & nephews and dear friends, Susan and Scott Swanner.
A celebration of Robin’s life will be held Saturday, April 22,2023, at 2:00 PM in Ellis Chapel at Park Cities Baptist Church, 3933 Northwest Parkway, Dallas, TX 75225.
