Roy B. Sayler's Obituary
Roy B. Sayler (Uncle Bud), of Dallas, Texas passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the age of 94. Roy was born on September 15, 1922 in Rocky Ridge, Maryland, to Florence and Charles Sayler. He grew up on a farm with his 12 siblings. He married Mildred Lockner of Taneytown, Maryland, before enlisting in the service. Roy was a World War II veteran in the Army infantry, serving in North Africa and Italy. After the war, he attended Milwaukee School of Engineering and upon graduation was a refrigeration engineer from Frick Corporation in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. He was then transferred to Dallas in 1952. Later he started his own business in refrigeration parts and supplies in 1968. He spent his Saturdays on his cattle ranch in Valley View, Texas. In addition, he spent many days playing golf and gin rummy at the Dallas Athletic Club. Roy was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred Sayler and second wife, Vivian Wirtz Sayler. He is survived by one brother, David (Ruth) Sayler of Thurmont, Maryland and numerous nephews and nieces, including Duke (Martha) Martin of Carrollton, Texas and Doren Martin of San Francisco, California. Close friends include Stewart (Kay) Beatty of Addison, Texas, and Fred (Sharron) Edwards of McKinney, Texas. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 10 AM in the Wildwood Chapel, visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Graceham Cemetery in Thurmont, Maryland. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas, 75243.
