The morning of 9th April in India was an evil one ??? its wee hours brought with it in India the heartbreaking news of sad demise of my beloved elder brother, Dada. We were far away distanced by miles but always close at heart. He would call me every few days and the conversation would start with ?How are you Shobhya? Happy??? and how is Deepak"and I too would answer ?with your blessings Dada???.. Elder brothers are so so very special and Dada was the special most! He would escort us home from school during the lunch hours, tell us stories, teach us game of chess, meet our teachers, help us join college, the list is endless. He always won medals in oratory, stood first in class and made us all proud. All his achievements; I don?t know why but we just owned them by birthright after all I was his proud younger sister. His admission to Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, coming to USA for earning his doctorate gave us very happy moments. He occupied an invincible position not only in all his siblings hearts but also in the hearts of all the elders in the family. He was the apple of my mother?s eyes ?. She just adored him for his understanding of physics, maths and humane qualities??. As a student; Dada had literally a very large family of friends, here back in India and I would wonder how could he be friends with so many? Where from does he find time to keep in touch with all of them? He was a very warm person at heart and his conversations were always very interesting and had spark of intelligence and knowledge ??.. In this time of distress I but just can?t help thanking dear Carol, his kids Mishall, Lauren and Jonathan for all the love and care they gave him and made his life richer in every way. I also thank my brother Shashank who is an ideal brother who is always there for all our family in times of our illnesses. May God grant Dada?s family courage to bear this irreparable loss. Dada you will always live in our hearts! Shobha Deepak Kelshikar
