Scarlette Luenne Carey's Obituary
Scarlette Luenne Carey, 77, passed away July 15, 2020, in Dallas, TX. She was born January 13, 1943, to parents Bert Holland and Luella Holland in Dallas, TX.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jesse Lee Carey Jr., and 6 children: Sheree Blankenship, Cheree Ferguson, Curtis Carey, Candee Martinez, Mistee Carey, and Kacee Carey. She is also survived by her brother, Ricky Neal, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom she deeply adored. She is predeceased by three of her children: Jesse Lee Carey III, Kellee Carey, Teree Chandler, and her loving stepfather, Curtis Neal.
Scarlette was immensely proud of her children and their participation in school and extracurricular actives. Scarlette was wholeheartedly involved in Casa View Elementary Parent Teacher Association, Bryan Adams High School Parent Teacher Association and Alumni, and White Rock Rebels Football Association. She was very passionate about her participation in these organizations and dedicated countless hours serving them through the years. She was honored and overjoyed to receive the PTA Lifetime Membership Award from Casa View Elementary. From the time they could walk, all 8 of her children participated in drill team and football. Without ever missing a game, Scarlette was their biggest fan through high school.
Scarlette was a devoted Elvis fan and if it had to do with Elvis, she loved it. She treasured the moments seeing Elvis perform when he was alive, first seeing him at Fair Park at the age of 13. Her favorite pastime was attending Elvis impersonator performances and she loved every moment of each performance.
In the song, More Hearts Than Mine by Ingrid Andress, she sings, “If I bring you home to mama, I guess I'd better warn ya, She falls in love a little faster than I do”. These lyrics describe exactly how large Scarlette’s heart was. If you walked in the door, you were apart of the family and probably had a stocking hung during Christmas. Christmas was her favorite holiday and everyone knew Christmas was “MANDATORY”.
She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all that knew her.
Scarlette’s favorite color was purple. Those who would like to participate may wear purple on July 22, 2020, in her honor.
