Sherry Lynn (Grice) Butler's Obituary
Sherry Butler was born as Sherry Lynn Grice on August 11, 1964 in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by: her two sons, David and Jason Bishop, her husband Mike Butler, her mother Alice Grice, her brother Jesse Grice, her sister Stacy Grice, and her granddaughter, Jaycee Bishop. The viewing and visitation will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016, followed by the main service at 2:30 p.m. It will be held at Restland Funeral Home in the Memorial Chapel located at 10035 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX, 75234. Sherry graduated from North Mesquite High School in 1982. She played soccer most of her life, which was by far her favorite sport. She would often tell stories about how hard she used to be able to kick the ball, one time even striking it so hard she broke a girl’s leg. She loved her Dallas sports teams; the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks lost one of their biggest fans. Sherry was one of the most loving people you could ever meet and had a sense of humor that could make anybody laugh no matter what mood they were in. If you felt down, she was right there to pick you back up, probably by making one of her patented silly faces at you. She never met a stranger; she knew everybody and everybody knew her. She was never afraid to say what was on her mind and people loved her for it. Sherry took the word ‘mom’ to a new, unparalleled level and was always there for her children in a moment’s notice. Everyone knew everything about her sons within 5 minutes of meeting her, always bragging about the wonderful men she had raised. Her granddaughter was sure to be in the conversation as well. She brought an abundance of joy that you could see in her eyes every time they got together. That’s just what kind of woman Sherry was: an amazing, giving, loving, friendly, talkative, masterful creation. We were so lucky to be given the chance to know a lady like Sherry. She would drop everything to help out a friend in need, big or small, human or canine. The four stray dogs she took in and made her own can attest to that. She had such a magnificent glow about her that everybody noticed. She knew it and she loved it, basking in the attention. There was never a dull moment when she was around, she immediately brightened any room she entered. Sherry was a wonderful daughter to her mom and showed her great love for her father even after he passed away. There wasn’t a holiday that went by where she wasn’t visiting him. She will be ecstatic to know that she is going to spend eternity just a few feet from him. Sherry was also a great sister, cracking jokes and having a terrific time with her brother and sister, every time they got together. She was also deeply beloved by her husband Mike. Their nearly identical, playful, humor kept them together and laughing throughout their 13 years together. Nobody would change a single thing about her. She will stay locked in our hearts forever and continue to bless us with so many precious memories. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
