There are so many precious memories that I have of Auntie.
She was the best auntie that anyone could hope for. She loved me unconditionally, prayed for me and our family faithfully, and was always available when I needed a confidante and a friend. I loved her laugh, we shared many belly laughs over the years.
She was the youngest, and the baby sister of my mom, Ruth Rieves. My mom and her were very close, and after my mom passed on to heaven in 2006, there was a void in both of us, that we each filled with one another over the years. There wasn’t anything that we couldn’t share with one another.
She became a mom to me, as well as a spiritual mother, and I will miss her dearly.
Her health began to decline after Covid, and it seemed to be one thing after another that she had to deal with. It was hard for her as she had led such an active life, even frequenting the gym several times a week.
Often times when I would talk to her, she would say, “Kib, I just don’t know why the good Lord is keeping me here, I am just so ready to go home.” I would tell her because her purpose was still alive and well, and she and uncle Jerry were great prayer warriors that God delighted in.
That prayer mantle will undoubtedly fall upon someone in this family, because she has finally reached her desired destination~Heaven.
And what a great homecoming for her there, to be reunited with loved ones and friends who had gone on before her. But most importantly, she was finally home with Jesus, Whom she loved with all of her heart, and spoke to daily in the early hours of the morning, as she and Uncle Jerry prayed faithfully for our entire family, their friends, their church, our country, and so much more.
Some might say, we lost her, but I can assure you she is not lost, she is more found than she’s ever been, wrapped in the arms of her loving Savior, surrounded by all her loved ones.
What a glorious thought as I remember her. The grief I feel fades in light of this beautiful truth.
Rest in eternity my sweet Auntie~
And one day, I will see you there.
