Sofia Garcia's Obituary
Sofia Garcia, 100, was called home Sunday, September 4, 2016. Sofia spent her final days at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in 1915 in Reynosa Tamps, Mexico, the youngest of 13 children. She married Carlos Garcia in 1946 and spent 60 wonderful years with him. Sofia worked as a professional seamstress for decades in the Dallas area. Sofia leaves behind 4 children: Nury, who dedicated her entire life to caring for Carlos and Sofia in all days and all ways, Carlos, Mariaelena, & Juanita. Numerous grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, and a host of friends. The family will be receiving family and friends on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Restland Memorial Chapel starting at 4 pm. to pay your respects. Rosary begins at 7 pm. Service will be held on Tuesday, September 13 , 2016 at 9:30 am at Restland Abby Chapel with internment to follow at DFW National Cemetery 11:30 am. Special Thanks to : Michelle (Granddaughter), Andy & Alex (Great-grandchildren) for always visiting and helping with their “Tita” when needed & their unconditional love and attention to her. Ninfa & Viola for your love and spiritual support always. A very special thanks to Nina, her Niece and Goddaughter for your loving support and help during these difficult times, eternal love and gratitude. To everyone who provided support, love, and help in our time of need; for all the miles driven to be by her side, and all the kind gestures from family and friends, we are eternally grateful. The national cemetery only allows a few flowers, if interested in lieu of flowers a donation basket will be available for donations to the “new” St. Agustin Catholic Church being built. They will place a brick in Sofia’s honor. Please make checks payable to The new St. Agustine church.
