Stanley David Rowden
Stanley “Stan” David Rowden, 79, of Richardson, Texas, beloved husband, devoted father of three, and cherished grandfather of eight, went into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 3, 2026.
Stan was born on September 5, 1946, in Wills Point, Texas, to Dennis and Lois Rowden.
After graduating from Garland High School, he attended East Texas State University where he met his wife, Donna Rowden. They married on February 12, 1972.
Following his time at ETSU, Stan worked 3 years at an optical clinic followed by 33 years at the United States Postal Service from which he retired in 2011. He demonstrated commitment and sacrifice throughout his career as he provided for his family.
Stan loved sports, particularly baseball, football, basketball and bowling. His favorite team was the Texas Rangers, and he loved watching games at the ballpark and on TV. He was a huge fan of anything pertaining to the Garland Owls, his high school Alma Mater. Stan also played sports throughout his life as a way to bond with others.
Stan gave his life to Christ at a young age and remained a faithful church-goer for life. He and his wife, Donna, attended First Baptist Garland in Garland, Texas, for the last many years.
Stan was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Rowden, and mother, Lois Rowden, and sister Emilyn Harris, and wife Donna Rowden.
Stan is survived by his daughter, Amy Woodard, and husband, John; two sons, Derek Rowden and wife, Natasha, and Lance Rowden; six grandsons, Jake Woodard, Luke Woodard, Ben Woodard, Cole Rowden, Max Rowden, and Seth Rowden; two granddaughters, Abigail Woodard and Skylar Rowden; his brother, Dennis Rowden, and many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 22, 2026, 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Tx 75243.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Restland Memorial Chapel with Jim Witt officiating.
Committal Service will be held at the Garden of Cypress at Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Tx 75243.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jake and Luke Woodard, and Cole, Max, and Seth Rowden; and nephews: Josh and Caleb Hagler and Scott Odom.
Honorary pallbearer will be grandson Ben Woodard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Stan’s name to First Baptist Garland of Garland, Texas.
