I just heard the news about Steve and am in shock about this. Not only did I have the privlidge to know Steve but I knew Steve's dad and sisters my High School years, and they are all great people. Steve was a great friend to me all through High School and into my adult life, the canoe trips we went on are just one of the many memories that will never be forgotten. He was the best man at my wedding, and I have and always will remember him as one of the best men I have met so far in my life. We lost contact over the years but I never stopped thinking about him and our experiences we had. It's great to hear that Steve left this world a little better than he found it. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing way before his time. Steve you will never be forgotten and you will be missed. Don Holtzclaw
Steve was an inspiration to so many people throughout his life. His loving and giving ways were apparent in his work with RISE and other volunteer positions he held following his injury. However, I have had the immense privlege of knowing him during all of his highs and lows in life. He was a truly remarkable person in his personal life as well as his public life. Steve had so much love to give to anyone willing to accept it. As my big brother, he would have gone to the ends of the earth for me – and I for him. His work here is done, but will NEVER be forgotten. He will live in the hearts and lives of every person whose life was touched by this angel sent to us straight from God. I love you, Steve! Renee
I've always looked up to you. Stand tall. I love you Bubba.
Ann & Bob We are saddened by the loss of your son…..you and your family are in our prayers.
Steve was the best Uncle anyone could ask for. I remember last Christmas we were playing Pictonary, and it was Steve's turn. He drew a question mark and a fish and just sat there. None of us were able to figure out what he had drawn. Time ran out and he got so mad at us for not knowing it was Finding Nemo. You really will be missed by so many people! I love you, Uncle Steve.
Where can I start…..I looked up to you Steve. You inspired me to be a better person every day. You were always a go getter. Did everything to the best. Even after your accident you made a better person of yourself than myself. I loved you with all my heart. You were a friend, a brother. A better person than I. Strong and so giving to others that made me ashamed to ever feel sorry for myself. I was honored to know you and can not wait to see you again. Be at peace my friend, feel no pain again, enjoy yourself… until we meet again. We Love you so much…DeeDee and John
Steve served on the REACH board of directors for too short a time, but his help, support and guidance to me had impact. He always asked sensible questions, thought carefully before giving his opinion, and never hesitated to help with special projects. I will miss his wise counsel.
Have you ever had a person in your life that you never met or spoke to but if your paths were lucky enough to cross one day you would pick up like old friends cause you already know about the other one. I call myself lucky cause I have the honor and privledge of working with one of the nicest kindest loving person I know and trust me I know a lot of them. The co worker left our relationship a long time ago and now she is my bestest Nette. My sweet southern bell. She loves and adores all of her family and will miss Steve so much. She worried about him everyday and is so going to miss him. TomCat you are the love of her life, Ryan she could not be prouder of you if she tried and Alicia she adores you and thanks you for her wonderful grandchildren. Her sister she loves you talks about you good luck with the new puppy. Come together all of you that is what Steve would of wanted. Be a family. All my love and friendship forver Karen Scott Cortapassi
I remember when Steve lost his dog. I can not think of the name but he was so upset that dog was his buddy. Finally they found the dog it was blessing. I also remember Anette telling me about being worried about her brother and how he did a gret job taking care of himself but she wanted to help him more!
