Steve McQuay's Obituary
Steven (Steve) Duane McQuay, age 68, of Richardson, Texas, passed away on April 22, 2024, in Dallas
Texas, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jerrie Ann (Ann) McQuay (Halbert); daughter, Shannon
Jameson (Michael) precious granddaughter, Payten Jameson; father, Robert McQuay; brother, Mark
McQuay (Sheryl), and sisters, Donna Zenner (Butch) and Lisa Dominguez (Sam), nieces; April Johnson
(Maurice), Krystal Lucich, Emily Dominiguez and great-niece Olivia McQuay; nephews, Ryan McQuay,
Patrick McQuay (Melissa), Zach Dominguez and great-nephew Hendrix Johnson.
Steve was born on September 26, 1955, in Dallas, Texas and graduated from North Mesquite High School
in 1974. Steve was very involved in school activities along with being a dedicated and outstanding
football player. Steve was hand-selected to participate in a mentoring and education program
sponsored from Texas Instruments where he successfully earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from
Southern Methodist University from 1974-1977.
Steve met the love of his life, Ann Halbert during their high school years and they married on December
18, 1976, and settled in Mesquite, Texas where Shannon was born. Steve engaged in a successful 38
year career as a professional engineer and facilities manager with Texas Instruments in Dallas.
As a mechanical engineer, Steve earned his Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. He enjoyed creating
and implementing processes to benefit productivity. He was an early adopter of environmental
stewardship, Six-Sigma and 5S Kaizen and traveled the world with Texas Instruments implementing
those strategic processes for Worldwide Facilities throughout Asia, Europe and Mexico. He also spent
time as an expat living near Rome, Italy, while constructing a new wafer fabrication facility for TI.
Steve also exhibited extraordinary project management skills and became an outstanding coach and role
model for many of his colleagues. Before retiring, Steve continued his career with Trinity Industries as a
Vice President from 2013 to 2022.
Steve expressed a deep love and commitment to his family and friends. A perpetual gift-giver, he often
hosted events and loved to launch surprises on unsuspecting friends and family. Steve simply enjoyed
being surrounded by those he loved and respected. He lived life large and touched so many, making this
world a better place.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas,
Texas 75243. Funeral services will be at St. Mark Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, 1201 Alma
Drive, Plano, Texas 75075.
