Many superlatives can be used to describe Suzanne. I will just share a few. Suzanne was the most amazing teacher. I know a few that were as good but none ever surpassed Suzanne. Suzanne was the quintessential English teacher in several ways including being very organized and paying attention to detail. But even those things were just about being prepared so she could give 100% to her students. She used literature to open doors and worlds to our students. She shared her knowledge and almost as important, she shared her joy for so many things. Whether it was designing their family shield or the English tea, she provided activities and experiences that were new, valuable and real to our kids. She made learning, not only enjoyable, but eventful. Not many can bring that to a classroom, she did it with grace and flare! I also remember marveling at her love of and her pride for, her family. Her deep love for her husband, the story of their meeting, so lovely. I heard so many stories about Austin and Erin, each prideful and joyful. She would beam about their successes And when she became a grandmother, oh my. Suzanne loved them so deeply. She supported her Big Blue, Michigan but grew to support those Aggies just as much. Part of what was so fascinating about Suzanne was her ability to give 100 % to so much. I had the pleasure and opportunity to work with her at Marsh Middle School for 14 years. We could not have been more different, and yet she supported me from the moment we met. She provided care and kindness to me throughout our time there. She was a role model for me, many other teachers and all her students. Her work ethic and the respect she showed all. The earth lost a shining star. I am so sad for your family.
