Texas Melbourne Oddson's Obituary
“I thank my God on ev’ry remembrance of you …” Philippians 1:3 The great heart of Texas Melbourne Oddson, Jr. gave out Friday, February 27, 2015, from medical complications. Thank you Father in heaven for making a place for Tex; that you are (John 11:25) the resurrection, the Truth and the Life and by our belief, we never die. Tex was born at the Florence Nightingale (now Baylor Hospital) in Dallas. He attended Richardson High School, Texas Tech and East Texas University. He proudly served the U. S. Army as an infantry sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Tex was a gentleman of honor and integrity as well as caretaker of man and animals. He illumined every room he walked into while leaving indelible impressions of happiness and joy. He was fun to be with in every arena of life. Tex loved deeply and gave unconditionally from his heart. White Rock Stables represents the investment of Tex’s lifetime, as it was for his father (Texas M Oddson, Sr) and mother (Cordelia Louise McCamey Oddson) who preceded him in death. You are My beloved child, in you I am well pleased (Mark 1:11). Tex was an entrepreneur and had real estate holdings in Red River, NM. He was a philanthropist and avid equestrian who played polo and traveled the country showing his miniature horse, Desert Shadows Renegade, who earned numerous National Grand Champion Driving awards. Tex is survived by his brother, Terrence Andrew Oddson, MD., and daughters, Tara Oddson and Amy Ryder. The memorial service for Texas Oddson will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 3:00 PM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, the Oddson family recommends a donation be made to St Jude www.stjude.org, the Wounded Warriors Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org or charity of your choice.
