Thomas G. Dawson's Obituary
Tom Dawson passed away on September 2, 2015 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Tom was born on January 22, 1934, in Hillsboro, TX. After growing up in Abbott, TX, he graduated from Baylor University in 1955. Tom served in the U.S. Army and was a mortgage banker for most of his career. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, H. Gibson and M. Lucile Dawson, and wife, Pat. He is survived by his daughter Diane Giddens and her husband Will of Dallas; son Gib Dawson and his wife Becky of Plano; five grandchildren, Thomas and Jackson Giddens and Bryan, Bethany, and Rachel Dawson, who will miss their Papa’s love, smile and humor; and cousin Emmett B. Dawson III (E.B.) and his wife Patti. Tom is also survived by his brother-in-law Don Webb and his wife LP; niece Pam Reese and her husband George; nephew Doug Webb; and niece Juli Lindsay and her husband Bill. Tom was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Dallas and the Doubl-Aires Sunday School Class and in his day enjoyed playing and watching softball and golf. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Dallas Chapter or the SPCA of Texas. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Dallas, 1928 Ross Avenue, Dallas, Texas, 75201. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
