Loved this man; may he rest in peace. He and I traveled many times together and I learned a lot about the oil business during those trips. He was a very patient mentor despite my numerous questions and misunderstandings. When we drilled wells in Colorado, we took one-way airline tickets not knowing the exact time of our return flight. Unfortunately one-way tickets meant a more thorough screening at the airports on both ends of the trip; always struck me as strange to have a 90 year old man subjected to such close scrutiny but he never seemed to mind. Some of our favorite friends like Dr. Mallory and the Walker brothers usually joined us when we were drilling in Yuma County. Mr. Jeffrey was and always will be a legend, especially in Yuma County, Colorado. Everyone knew him and his contribution to the oil and gas industry, He will be sorely missed. My most embarrassing moment was a trip to a Texas Rangers game with Mr. Jeffrey and Dr. Ralph Connell. They were both counting on me to drive since I was a full generation younger than either of them. The driving was no problem but after the game I could not find where I had parked the car (my senior moment). After about 15 minutes of wandering the parking lots, a considerate parking attendant drove us around until we managed to find the car. They could have really tacked that one on me, but both were so gracious they never mentioned it to anyone that I know of. Mike Travis
