Thomas James Jeffrey's Obituary
Jeffrey, Thomas James, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, Thomas Jeffrey, born September 7, 1918, passed away on September 2, 2016. He was five days short of his 98th birthday. He is survived by his son, Dr. Thomas E. Jeffrey and wife Lisa of Allen, daughters Pati Jeffrey of Dallas, Jan McCune and husband Ralph of Dallas, and Judy Bowen and husband David of Austin. He is also survived by grandchildren Thomas, Joel, Christi, Rhett, Katie, Holden and Haley, along with great-grandchildren Tiffany, Ashley, T.J., Jamie, Bridgette, Brooke, Greta, Ella, Elyse, Blakely and Zachary. Known to all as “Pa”, his enjoyment in life centered around his family and the love of his life, Billie. Married for 64 years, Tom and Billie met at the ice-skating rink at Fair Park in December, 1941. It was love at first sight according to Tom. They were married in Chicago on September 26, 1942, where Tom was an aviation cadet in the U.S.A.A.F. After receiving his commission as a 2nd Lt., Tom reported for duty in the C.B.I. Theater. After returning from the war in 1946, Tom, a petroleum engineer, followed the oil fields from Arkansas to Oklahoma, finally settling in Richardson in 1954. He was a man of few words but his actions spoke volumes; he was the true cornerstone of the Jeffrey family.The family wants to give special thanks to Dads care givers, Ella Seager and Mary Obonyo. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home on Greenville Avenue in Richardson at 3:00pm. Friends of the family are welcome to visit at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations for nursing scholarships may be made to National Student Nurses’ Association, www.NSNA.org. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
