In Loving Memory of Tim
Tim, Timothy David, TIMOTHY DAVID!
“Ohhh, you’re in trouble…”
You all know when you get called by your first and middle name, it usually means you did something serious. But from what I remember, Tim always said he never got into trouble. In fact, he would remind us he was the “perfect son.” So he must not have heard that full name called very often.
To our kids, Austin and Allie, he was affectionately known as “Uncle Toom.”
Tim didn’t have a bad bone in his body. Although, his knees gave him a little trouble. But that never stopped him from helping others — and he helped people all the time. He even volunteered with Citizens on Patrol for the Garland Police and Fire Departments.
That was just who he was. If you needed help, he showed up. Even if he had worked all day Saturday, he’d still come afterward and give you a hand — always generous with his time.
Every sport Tim participated in, he excelled to the max. Golf was his favorite, but he also played pool, bowled, and competed in ping pong tournaments with his Dad. He was A competitor. And in his career in AGRONOMICS, he absolutely excelled there too.
When we all got our first homes — Mom , Dad, Kathy, Beth, me, and Austin — boy, was Tim busy answering questions.
“What’s the best fertilizer?”
“Well, if you have St. Augustine, you can’t use this type — it’ll kill the broad leaf blades.”
“What weed is this?” / That’s an Aster weed, lives in thrives in drought conditions
“How do I get rid of it if I have pets?”
Sprinkler systems? He was an irrigation pro.
Tim’s guidance on proper lawn care?....... Priceless.
Because of him, we all had the best lawns in town.
Now, … Kathy was the smart one — she got a house with a pool!
In the summertime, pretty much every Sunday, we would gather as a family. And boy, that was TIME WELL SPENT. THANK YOU, KATHY.
Tim loved teasing people — just kidding around. He was simply one of the good guys. Mom, are your Nittany Lions going to win this week?? And Kathy are you still rooting for the Cheating Patriots, and Beth, are you opening another Bottle of Wine!! Whenever you needed him, he was there. I don’t think I ever saw him upset or mad……….. He was just special.
A devoted husband.
A loving and caring son to his mom and dad.
A wonderful brother.
And a loyal friend to anyone who knew him.
And I have to share this one…
Supper time.
Tim burped at the table.
Mom abruptly said, “Timothy David! Say excuse me… or something!”
….And what do you think Tim’s response was?
“SOMETHING!”
That was Tim.
One of his other funny lines — when we would all gather and it was time to leave — he’d smile and say,
“So glad you got to see me!”
Yes, we are sad that he’s gone. But let’s also be joyful that we knew him. Let’s honor him by being a little more like Tim …. — kind, caring, thoughtful, always willing to lend a hand.
We have truly lost a good man. But Heaven has gained Tim’s loving and gracious spirit.
That was Tim.
Love you, Tim.
We’ll see you again.
We love you forever.
