Tommy Mac Thompson's Obituary
Tommy Mac Thompson, Mac to his friends and family, entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 14, 2018, in Richardson, Texas. Mac was born July 21, 1950, in Warren, Arkansas, the youngest of 7 boys and 2 sisters. He met the love of his life Barbara Starnes in 1967 and they married in 1968. Mac entered the Navy in 1972 and was stationed on the USS Lexington in Pensacola, FL until 1976, then he and his family settled in Richardson, TX. Mac made a positive impression on everyone he met. Even his 1st-grade teacher Miss Betty remembers the skinned-up nose of a little red headed boy. His witty sense of humor and euphemisms made everyone laugh. Mac was cheerleader on the sidelines whether it was at his daughter’s dance recitals or his grandkids football, soccer, basketball or softball games. He also instilled the importance of education and encouraged life-long learning. He was the ultimate family man. Mac is survived by his wife Barbara of 50 years, his daughter Angela and his “favorite oldest” grandson Cody, his “favorite” granddaughter Raina, and “favorite youngest” grandson Wyatt. He will be missed for his generous heart and quick one-liners by his family and friends.A graveside service will take place on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Restland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to Swim Across America “Making Waves to Fight Cancer”, http://www.swimacrossamerica.org/site/PageNavigator/Our_Mission.html.
