Vicki Lee Newman's Obituary
Vicki Lee Newman (Fariss), 79 of Dallas, Texas, passed away on May 16, 2022, after a lengthy illness.
Vicki was born in Dallas, Texas on January 13, 1943. She graduated from W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas in 1961. She earned an associate’s degree from Richland College.
Vicki married her high school sweetheart, James Richard Newman, on December 8,1961. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in December.
Vicki worked for International Paper for 21 years, as an accountant and systems analyst, retiring in 2001.
Vicki and Jim took great joy in helping family and friends, especially with home improvements and repairs. There was no job too big or too small for Vicki to tackle. She was generous with her time and love. She never turned down a request for help and she would often jump in before you could ask. She loved spending free time at the lake house they built on Lake Cypress Springs. Her favorite role was as Mamaw to her beloved grandkids.
They were members of First Methodist Church of Plano.
Vicki is survived by husband Jim, son James (Kyle) Newman (wife Kelly), daughter Jill Suzann Richardson (husband Delbert), grandchildren Alex Newman, Collin Newman, Allison Oglesby (husband Colton), and Blake Richardson, sister Barbara Newman, nephew Bret Newman (wife Amy), great-nephews Tyler Newman and Matt Newman, niece Debbie Harbin and other family and friends.
Vicki was preceded in death by parents Garland and Daisy (Bernice) Fariss, brother Richard Fariss, and nephew Blaine Newman
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18th at 2:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Arrangements are being handled by Restland, located at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (StJude.org).
