Victor Jennings Hancock 5/29/1923 – 9/13/2018Victor Jennings Hancock laid down his working tools and went to rest early Thursday morning, September 13th, 2018 at the age of 95.Victor, a WWII Veteran who served as a Bomber Pilot in the 321st Bomb Group, 445th Bomb Squadron of the 57th Bomb Wing of the United States Army Air Corp, was a long time Mason, Shriner and Rotarian. He was currently serving as President of the Top of Dallas Shriners, served as past president of the High Noon Club and was an Honorary Member of the Hella Shrine Flying Fezzes. He served for decades as the Editor of the Men of the 57th, a quarterly magazine chronicling WWII. He served as Chairman for the Rotary Club of Dallas’ Angel Tree program of the Salvation Army. He served on the Rotary Club of Dallas’ Salute to America’s Veterans and in 2017, was awarded the Perot Patriot Award. He served as Director of Planning and Development for the United States Department of Housing and Development. He was very active in both the Christian Science Church and the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, both of Richardson, TX.He was an adoring husband, a doting father, and a wonderful and loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He was proceeded in death by the love of his life Jo Ann Hancock, his wife of nearly 70 years. He is survived by his daughter, Victoria Hancock; grandson, Louis Hancock Daitch; granddaughters, Kara Anderson and husband, Andre, Jeri Daitch, Jamie Lynch and husband, Mark; great-grandsons, Andre Kaiden Anderson, Maison Jennings Anderson, Kimayon Washington, and Truitt Hancock Daitch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was also the proud owner of a cat named Cat, who misses him dearly.Victor leaves behind friends from all around the globe and the saying that he “never met a stranger” was never truer. He treated everyone whom he encountered with dignity, respect and his warm smile. He prided himself in “seeing people” and believed that everyone, no matter their situation be acknowledged and greeted warmly.Victor, we all love and miss you.
