Dear Dan and Paul, It was truly an honor to know your dad and I am greatly saddened by his passing. I have many great memories of visiting with him and your mom when I was at their home swimming, playing basketball, eating everything in the house, and going into their attic and stepping through the ceiling (fortunately it was only my foot that came through). In spite of this impromptu "remodeling" of his home, your dad always made me feel welcome there. When I was thinking about attending law school, Mr. Rego put me in touch with his attorney, who helped me find a summer job at a prestigious law firm. As a mere undergraduate, without his help, I would have had no idea how to pursue such a position. I've always been grateful to him for that. Mr. Rego was of course a brilliant entrepreneur whose accomplishments are an inspiration to many. But just as importantly, he was a great husband and father, a principled man whose values shone through in the way he lived his life. When I was younger, I felt he was the kind of guy one should emulate. Now that I'm older, I feel that way even more strongly.
