Virginia Mae Clay's Obituary
Virginia M. Clay (Peery) born on September 29, 1928, and flew into the arms of Jesus on March 16, 2025. Born in Emporia Kansas to Edward Jesse Peery and Mabel Josephine Peery. She married William C. Clay on June 1, 1952, and is survived by son, Michael Clay (Kimberly), granddaughter, Elizabeth Clay, great grandsons, Forrest Clay and Ryder James Clay; daughter, Laura Clay-Fix (Rob), grandson, Michael (Courtney), great granddaughter, Sailor June Fix; nephews, Pat Peery (Cherie) and John Peery (Maryann) and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was a college graduate (College of Emporia) and worked mainly as a seamstress, but also taught school in Americus, Kansas and then later in life as the “story lady” at a private pre-school in Dallas.
She was active first in the First Baptist Church in Emporia, then at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Emporia and then at Walnut Hill Lutheran in Dallas. She loved serving and singing in the church choirs.
She loved her family. She loved the Lord. She had many good friends throughout her life and lately at The Bentley where she lived the last few years of her earthly life.
She almost made it to her goal of 100.
