Just found this information on Walter. I worked with Walter in the Fine Arts Department of DISD. Your Dad was a special man. He was so crazy about you girls, and your Mom. I am so sorry to read of his passing, but feel sure he is listening to heavenly music with Barbara. My condolences.
Walter has been on my mind for a few months now. I had the privilege of working with Walter for several years when he was the leader of the Band/Orchestra programs in the DISD and I was responsible for the Visual Arts programs. Walter was so efficient and talented. He also had a funny sense of humor that you had to know him to "get". He was so crazy about Barbara that it was inspiring to me. Shortly before the pandemic shutdown, we had talked about getting the crew together for lunch. Another reminder that we should not put off seeing old friends. My condolences to the family.
Mr. Burns was a wonderful band director. But most of all, he was a wonderful person! His patience was endless. I will always remember how he encouraged each of us to excel in everything we do.
