Walter Hardi's Obituary
Walter Hardi, better known as “WT” or “PawPaw”, passed away on November 10, 2017, at the age of 93.He was preceded in death by his wonderful, loving wife Doris and his grandson Chase.WT was known by many for his work ethic which began when he got his first job at the age of five selling magazines. In 1942, WT enlisted in the US Navy and served until 1945 aboard the USS Mustin DD 413 and the USS Houston CL 81. He was a decorated World War II veteran and served as Post Commander of the Military Order of Purple Heart. When he returned from the war, he married Doris Morris and pursued the American Dream. The couple was married for 51 years and had four children. WT worked for Southwestern Bell for 42 Years and retired in 1987. In his spare time, he helped build Scyene Rd. Christian Church and served as a deacon, was president of the Booster Club at Samuell High in 1972, and coached little league baseball. Well into his nineties, WT was known for his constant handiwork for his many neighbors and friends. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, spending time with his family, and dancing. He was always quick with a joke and made friends wherever he went.He is survived by his four children, Doris (Lee), Gary (Gayle), Jim (Susan), and Bo (Glenda), nine grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren (with two on the way). He will be greatly missed by all.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 15 at 11 AM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Restland Cemetery, Highland Garden.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to a charity of your choice.
