Walter Eli Higgins Jr's Obituary
HIGGINS, WALTER ELI, JR. was born in Ft. Worth, Texas July 17, 1916 and joined his Savior January 3, 2011. He graduated from Poly High, attended Baylor and graduated from the University of Central Arkansas, where he met his wife of 67 years, Virginia Cranor Higgins. Walter was a decorated WW II veteran. Walter and Virginia moved to Richardson, TX in 1954 where the family was active in First Baptist Church Richardson. Walter worked for the FBI, National Board of Fire Underwriters, American Insurance Association and the City of Dallas. Walter remained an active member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI and the 90th Bomb Group, “Jolly Rogers”. Walter is survived in death by his sons, Walter E. Higgins, III and wife Beth of Kingwood, TX; Steve Higgins of Trinidad, TX; and grandsons Brandon Higgins of Austin, TX and Colby Higgins and wife Tiffanee of Lake City, TN; great-grandchildren, Haylee Higgins, Gage Higgins, Brayden Higgins and Maycee Higgins. Walter is preceded in death by his wife Virginia Cranor Higgins, father, Walter Higgins, Sr., mother Grace Holman Higgins, brother, John Higgins, sisters, Ruth Helen Thompson, Mildred White and Virginia Neathery. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home and the funeral service will be Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:00a.m. in Restland’s Wildwood Chapel.
