Walter H Lindley's Obituary
Walter “Walt” Henry Lindley, age 61, died October 30, 2015, after a battle with cancer. Walt is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Katherine Wholaver and his son, Christopher Ryan Lindley. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Lindley, grandson, Christopher Ryan Lindley, Jr., his partner, Kelsey Hopkins, brother, Bob Lindley and sister, Marsha Davis. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Laura Lindley, Bobby Lindley, Anthony Sorrells, Jeremy Sorrells and Shannon Lindley along with 11 great nieces and nephews and 8 great, great nieces and nephews – all who loved their Uncle Walt tremendously. Walt was born in Dallas, Texas, on January 21, 1954. He was the youngest of three children and was always treated like the baby, especially if his mother had any say in it. Walt most definitely had an entertaining sense of humor but his best character trait was his simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. His signature gift of laughing and joking around will never be forgotten. Walt loved working with his hands and took great pride in his work. He was always willing to teach anyone wanting to learn and there are many in our family that received great instruction from him. Walt could fix or build just about anything – his attention to detail was legendary. Although he loved working with his hands and being outside, he loved nothing more than spending time with his children and family as they were his most prized possessions. Walt was a very proud Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served with distinction in the Army. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as his friends and family will attest. One of his favorite things to do was celebrate July 4th in the grandest way possible and this tradition will be passed down for generations. A Celebration of his life will be held November 14, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
