Wanda was the closest person to an Aunt I had and much more than that. She would listen to your troubles, lend a shoulder to cry on, laugh with you when you needed to be silly, give wise advice when in doubt, and provide a meal to heal your body and soul. One of my fondest memories was when her sister, Oleta Beidel, was visiting and we went to lunch at Dairy Queen with their other sister, Dene Hackler, my grandmother. Oleta was a “cut-up” and put two toothpicks in her mouth to look like Dracula with fangs. Wanda’s face turned as red as her hair and we all couldn’t stop laughing. Wanda was truly a jewel to be treasured!
