Wanda Nell Talley's Obituary
On Sunday, September 11, 2022, Wanda Nell Hays Talley went into the waiting arms of the Lord and to be with her husband that she loved dearly, at the age of 86.
Wanda was born on April 29, 1936, in Turkey, TX to Ruey David and Dove (Ferguson) Hays. She met her husband, Melvin Carlton Talley while working at a drugstore in Andrews, TX in 1953. They married on January 30, 1954. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2012. She graduated from Andrews High School in 1954. After her children were all in school, she went on to receive her instructor’s license in cosmetology.
Wanda will be known for her love of the Lord, crocheting, incredible memory, and unconditional love to her family and friends. She took on the ministry of sharing love by sending cards for every occasion and celebration. Many have received her love of crocheting in the form of doilies, baby blankets and booties. She exhibited her love of sharing God’s word through teaching Ladies Bible study and children’s classes. One of her favorite sayings,” Laughter is the best medicine.”
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings- James Ernest Hays, Earl Hays, Iris (Hays) Savio and daughter-in-law Kathy (Keel) Talley.
Survived by Sister-in-law Kay Hays and Brother-in-law Giuseppe Savio. Children- Bonnie (Talley) & husband Stan Turner, Phil Talley, Judy (Talley) & husband Marvin Faldon, and Keith Talley.
18 grandchildren- Jennifer (Turner) & Michael Poling, Garrett Turner, Chris & Amy Talley, Cody & Mikaela Talley, Jessica (Meeker/Faldon) & Jonathan Merritt, Devon (Faldon) & Jonathan Ray, Whitney (Faldon) & Russell Jones, Matthew & Stephanie Talley, Kevin Talley, Courtney (Talley) & John Ashley.
15 great grandchildren- Aidan & Avery Poling, Bella Turner, Hudson & Parker Talley, Kielyn Talley, Bailey Merritt, Oliver & Owen Ray, Roland & Patricia Marie Jones, Tyler & Hayley Talley, Austin & Aubrey Ashley.
Services for Ms. Wanda Talley will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 24, 2022 in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. A public visitation will be held prior on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 6p-8p at Restland Funeral Home.
