We just learned of Mr. Bethune’s passing. We/I knew Mr. Bethune from the dialysis clinic. He was one of our mom, Mary Emerson’s, first “dialysis friends” as she met him on her second treatment. She always referred to him as “Mr. Bethune” so we did too. It is hard to really chit-chat in the dialysis clinic and chairs, but there was always a very friendly “hello! how are you today?” exchange. Before covid my sister or I would take turns keeping our mom company during her treatment and soon Mr. Bethune, who’s chair was near our mom’s, would greet us as well and even ask my mom “where are your daughters?” If we happened to not be there. Mr. Bethune always was dressed so nice and put together! And even after covid started and we were no longer allowed in the clinic my mom would mention to us that Mr. Bethune asked how we were doing, it meant a lot to my mom that he took the time to ask about her girls. The staff told us the clinic patients kind of become a family and even though my mom/we didn’t know Mr. Bethune in depth, he and a handful of others did feel like family to my parents. Mr. Bethune passed away 1.5 weeks before my mom and my sisters and I were chatting when we found out Mr. Bethune had passed as well that he probably greeted our mom in Heaven and they chatted about not being in the dialysis clinic anymore! We are so very sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Sarah (Emerson) Dudley
