William Gene Tanner's Obituary
William (Bill) Gene Tanner born May 6, 1935, in Ogden, Utah to Mary Ella Betteridge and Delbert E. Tanner passed away on December 19, 2016. He was preceded in death by brothers Merlin, Keith and Gordon and sons Robert W. and Eric Gene. He is survived by wife Mary Kay and children Mary Fay (David Terrell) of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; Steve of Dallas, Texas; Patti (Bernard Gille) of Lindon, Utah; Karen (Marvin Miller) of Carrollton, Texas; Brad (Linda) of Provo, Utah; and Marc of Dallas, Texas; 15 grandchildren, William, Joseph, Tony, Corrie, James, Brandon, Kendra, Afton, Linly, Tanner, Meredith, Marley, Hoggan, Beckett and Gibson, 7 great-grandchildren, Kynleigh, Hayden, McKenzie, Tyler, Tessa, Abel and Sunnie; a sister Carole Olsen, and a brother Douglas Tanner. Bill was raised in a small ranching community in northwest Utah called Grouse Creek. He married Mary Kay Hoggan in 1954. They lived in Ogden and Bountiful Utah for 10 years, moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1965 and then moved to Dallas, Texas in 1974. Bill was a friendly out-going person. He made immediate friends wherever he went. He was active in his church and community. He enthusiastically supported his family in all of their endeavors. Bill loved his family and friends and will be missed by all. A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, from 9 am to 11 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral services will follow at 11 am. The church is located at 14740 Meandering Way, Dallas, TX. Graveside services will follow at Restland Cemetery.
