William Dewitt Goodman's Obituary
William DeWitt Goodman, 97, long-time resident of Rylie/Dallas, Texas, passed to his Heavenly home on October 14,2015. He graduated from Old Mesquite High School in 1937, pursued boxing for a time and then married the love of his life Mary Louise in 1943. His tour of duty included serving at Kirtland ArmyAirForce Base during WWII working on the APQ-13 advanced radar system on board the Boeing B-29 heavy bomber. He had a very long career working for and retiring from Campbell Taggart’s Research and Development Group as a designer of bakery equipment. He has been the rock of the family and truly the wind beneath our wings. We will miss him greatly. Preceded in death by wife Mary Louise Goodman, son William Thomas Goodman, parents Jack and Dott Goodman of Rylie, Texas, sister Sallie J’Nell Culp and brothers Harold Clifton “Tip” Goodman, Crockett Juston Goodman, and Billy Byrl Goodman. He is survived by children DeLinda Joyce Osteen and husband Bill, James B. Goodman and wife Larena, Sara LaNette Philippi and husband Greg. Grandchildren are Daniella Elizabeth Hayward Whelchel and husband Cody, Rebecca LaNette Hayward Bergeron, Jonathan Aaron Osteen and wife Emily, Sara Lea Lipham Price, Amanda Louise Lipham Donahue and husband Tim, and Julian Joseph Philippi. Great grandchildren are John Hayward Bergeron, Jacob Goodman Bergeron, Liam Philip Osteen and Kayleigh Paige Whelchel along with a whole host of family and friends. There is a time of visitation for family and friends scheduled for 6 to 8pm, Friday evening, October 16th at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas. The Funerall service will be held at 3pm, Saturday, October 17th at Restland Abbey Chapel. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park.
