I met Bill on Lower Greenville in 1997. It was some event/Happy Hour. Work folks had joined me there, and one was from Edinburg, TX. She and Bill talked about the Valley for some time. Now for the next 20 years, Bill would talk to me and ask about her. Bill was always interested in whatever someone was doing. My vacations were bicycle trips to Europe and Bill talked about how he would like to go. When I moved to New Mexico, in 2016, I discovered in talking to Bill that his relatives live just down the street from me. Bill said he was going to come out and see them and would look at my new place. It would have been a fine thing to happen or to still be looking forward to that event. I will miss seeing his smiling face and talking with Bill.

To the man that inspired me to become a CPA. I remember one day we were on my back porch in Harlingen drinking a beer and Bill asked me "Debits equal what" and I responded "Papayas" , funny how that conversation has stayed in my brain all these years. I went to the Margarita Ball this past year and Bill and I talked for over an hour. Right up to the time that this fine looking young lady approached us and engaged us in a very fluid conversation. Was all fine until Bill asked her why she approached us, and she pointed to me and said…."He reminds me of my Grandpa!". Never saw anyone laugh so hard. Probably the last picture I will ever have taken at a Margarita Ball…was taken by Bill. Godspeed to you Sir!

I remember years ago when Bill Glebus introduced me to Bill at a charity happy hour. He and I somehow got into a discussion about the behavioral differences between the trusting, people-loving, fun dolphins vs. the porpoises (who do not share those friendly traits). Thinking back, what an analogy that turned out to be for his personality. He's the one who naturally shared his happy spirit with us all. He made the world a nicer place just by being in it. My sincerest condolences to Bill's family and friends. I have not seen him in decades, but have always remembered him so fondly, and as one of the nicest guys one would ever want to meet. I was happy to reconnect with him via facebook and it was so easy to see that he carried that wonderful, friendly nature throughout his life. So full of life and joy that is was almost palpable through the web. I will truly miss your happy self. R.I.P. my old friend.
