All I can say is I feel and empathize with your loss. Your dad was a great man! A shining example of dedication, hard work, a family man! We as kids have fond memories of growing up on Hillsboro. I know we thought there were no boundaries, no front yard that we couldn’t play football in…( for Corey)…football was our life at the time. Well I remember one time we (Butch,Me,Corey, probably Doug and a few others playing) in your front yard at the time when you dad came out and called upon Corey to come inside. So we waited and waited and waited. Finally Corey came back outside and told us we would have to go play somewhere else? Why I said? Corey said your dad said we couldn’t. OK I guess. Later your dad was out in ya’lls garage doing something and he asked me if I understood what Corey relayed to us in his message. I said I guess so, he told me that if I didn’t agree with it he would be more than happy to go speak with my dad about the matter. He just said it in such a low key manner, never raised his voice, and after he was through he just grinned. I look back on it and think about it from time to time and grin too. So I guess you could say our football field just shrunk a little bit. As we continued playing football the streets sometimes it really wasn’t where we played, just so we could be kids and play football! ?? ?? ??
Bill, I met you through your lovely daughter Paula. Having you as my father-in-law was a true blessing. I will forever treasure the memories of time shared with you. Thank you for everything.
I’m a better person after I met him, he was such a joy and sweet man.
Bill was a classmate of mine at Forest Avenue High School.
So friendly and considerate, well liked by all. RIP Bill!
