William "Bill" Henry Guernsey's Obituary
William “Bill” Henry Guernsey, 85, died Sunday, November 11, 2018, peacefully at his home in Poetry, Texas, with his family by his side, following a long battle with Parkinson’s & Alzheimer’s. He was born in Dallas, Texas, to Walter Henry Guernsey and Annie Frances Zeller Guernsey. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean conflict.Bill is survived by his wife of over 36 years, Brenda (Smalley) Guernsey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Sharon Jeanne Isom Guernsey. He is survived by his and Sharon’s two daughters, Debra Guernsey Kaslik, husband Richard of Union Valley, Texas; Paula Guernsey Smith, husband Wesley of Allen, Texas; and son, Cory Guernsey of Dallas, Texas. When he married Brenda, he gained two more daughters who he loved and raised as his own, Rene Miller Eisele, husband Eric of Rowlett, Texas and Rhonda Miller Barber, husband Bryant of McKinney, Texas.Bill is also survived by five grandchildren, Brooke Cook, husband Matt of Forney, Texas; Kaitlyn Eisele Ramirez, husband Joshua of Garland, Texas; Jessica Eisele and Lauren Eisele, both of Rowlett, Texas; Caden Barber of McKinney, Texas; and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Jane Guernsey Wright, husband Blair of Winnsboro, Texas and Kathy Guernsey Bransom, husband Rob of Cincinnati, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Warkentin of California.Bill was a graduate of Forest Avenue High School in Dallas, Texas and attended SMU where he played baseball for both. He was a sign electrician by trade working for Texlite Signs of Dallas for many years before working with his father at Guernsey Electrical Advertising for over 30 years. After his father’s death, he ran the business.Bill was an avid hunter. He loved traveling, especially cruising, camping, and snow skiing. As a young man and as an adult, he had a passion for baseball and football. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Richard Kaslik, Wesley Smith, Eric Eisele, Bryant Barber, Duane Meyer and Benjamin Tatangang. Honorary pallbearer is his brother-in-law and dearest friend Blair Wright.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Bill to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or the Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinson.org).Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, November 16, 2018, at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 12:30 P.M., Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Restland Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243. Graveside military honors service will immediately follow.
