IN MEMORY OF OUR FATHERMr. Xuan Van Tran, 66, of Richardson, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017.Mr. Xuan is survived by his wife of 43 years of marriage, sons, daughters-in-law, sisters, brothers, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Mr. Xuan was a loving, compassionate, and kind father, husband, grandfather and a friend to all.Mr. Xuan loved to volunteer and to provide security services with the Richardson Police Departments for 25+ years. He was well recognized for his dedications to other surrounding Police Departments and communities. He enjoyed teaching and devoted his life to his family, children, and grandchildren. Mr. Xuan had a warm heart and he always reached out to help others. Most of all, Mr. Xuan devoted all his life to Jesus Christ, Holy Mary, and the Church.Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243, on Thursday, January 4 and Friday, January 5, 2018.Funeral services for Mr. Xuan will be at Mother of Perpetual Help Parish Church, 2121 W. Apollo Rd. Garland, TX 75044 on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 8:00 am. Cremation will follow at Restland Funeral Home.If I could write a story, it would be the greatest story ever told. If I could write thousand pages, I would say how much I missed and loved him every single day.He was our hero, our best friend, he was so kind a loving Dad, a great Grandpa, he was always there for all of us. His memory lingers on, he still lived in our hearts.1 Corinthians, 9:24: “Do you not know that the runners in the stadium all run in the race, but only one wins the prize? Run so as to win.”That is what Mr. Xuan did. He ran to win the prize. But he didn’t run to win an earthly prize. Mr. Xuan ran to win the most important prize of all — eternal salvation.A runner in a stadium race who wishes to win the prize has to train athletically. But a person who desires to win the most important prize of all, eternal salvation, has to train spiritually. That is what Mr. Xuan did.Mr. Xuan’s “training” involved loving and obeying God — Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Mr. Xuan did so by attending Mass each day. Mr. Xuan did so by having remained close to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mr. Xuan prayed the Holy Rosary daily. Mr. Xuan went to Confession. Mr. Xuan loved the Holy Catholic Church.Mr. Xuan sought God’s love and mercy. Mr. Xuan’s love of and friendship with God filled Mr. Xuan’s heart and mind with God’s ways…with God’s teachings.With the Holy Ghost in his heart, Mr. Xuan, in turn, showed mercy to those who sinned against him.As the result of his holiness, Mr. Xuan was beloved everywhere he went. At church, in a store, in public, at the school where he worked…wherever… — young and old, children and adults — people knew and loved Mr. Xuan.Even when he encountered a stranger, Mr. Xuan treated the stranger as a friend.Mr. Xuan’s love of and friendship with God The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, as well as the Blessed Virgin Mary, filled Mr. Xuan’s heart and mind with love and kindness…with holiness.Mr. Xuan, who always ran to win, has just won the most important prize of all — eternal salvation.
