Yunji "Eugene" Huang

Yunji "Eugene" Huang passed away on December 14, 2019, in Plano, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 17, 1963, to ChengZhong Huang and XiongShan Liu in Harbin, China, where he spent his childhood. After graduating from Harbin No. 3 Senior High, he attended Peking University and received a B.S. in Physics. Following his graduation from Peking University, he went on to the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences for graduate studies. Upon completion of his master’s degree in Semiconductors, he emigrated to the United States, obtaining a Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Ultimately, he settled in Plano to pursue a career as a scientist and engineer while raising his two children. Having worked at Abbott Laboratories for the past twelve years, Yunji was a dedicated, beloved colleague and friend.
Yunji was known for his calm and low-key personality, kindness, and altruistic heart, demonstrated by his unceasing willingness to help others without expectation of recognition or reward. His stubborn passion as a handyman and commitment to learning the intricacies and fixing all manner of machinery were testaments to his strong will, intelligence, and devotion. Moreover, he was physically and mentally tough and disciplined -- regularly playing soccer before devoting himself to marathon PRs supplemented by daily meditation and readings.
Yunji is survived by his wife, Enxi Huang; son, Ben Huang; daughter, Angela Huang; and brother, YunXue Huang. He will be joining his mother and father, as well as his cherished Jack Russell terrier, Leo. A beloved father, husband, and friend, he will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
